Which Sandblasting Machine Fits Your Parts: Conveyor, Turntable or Manual?

Compare conveyor, turntable, manual and wet blasting options. Learn what to send a manufacturer and how to assess a sample test for your parts.

Choose a sandblasting machine by the part’s geometry, the surfaces that need treatment and the production flow. A conveyor is a candidate for parts that travel in a stable position; a turntable is a candidate when rotation helps expose the required surfaces. Confirm the configuration with representative samples before ordering.

Compare four equipment options

Conveyor blasting: consider it for repeat parts that can move through a blasting zone. Verify part support, coverage, loading intervals and conveyor speed.

Turntable blasting: consider it for parts that benefit from controlled rotation. Verify fixtures, shadowed areas, loading and cycle time.

Manual cabinet: consider it for small batches, sampling or frequent part changes. Verify operator access, consistency and handling time.

Wet blasting: consider it where a water–abrasive mixture is appropriate. Verify finish, compatibility, drying and water management. Wet blasting describes a process; it can be manual or automated and is not a handling layout equivalent to a conveyor or turntable.

Specify the result before discussing price

Identify the task: oxide or rust removal, suitable burr removal, a matte appearance, or preparation before coating. Not every burr can be removed effectively by blasting. Thin walls, edges, protected surfaces and recessed areas need particular attention. Appearance and surface roughness are separate acceptance criteria; specify both if both matter.

What should a sample test demonstrate?

Use parts that represent production conditions. Record the abrasive, operating settings, fixture and treatment time. Inspect recesses, edges and masked areas as well as the visible outer surface. Where coating preparation is the goal, agree on cleanliness and surface profile requirements with the coating process owner. Assess loading, unloading and inspection time when estimating output.

Request a recommendation

Zhongshan Aihang Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. manufactures sandblasting and shot blasting equipment and supports customized configurations. Send part photos or drawings, material, dimensions and weight, quantity per shift, required finish and any surfaces to protect. Include available compressed-air pressure and flow if known. These details support a proposed layout and a sample-test plan; achievable results and capacity require confirmation.

Common questions

Can one machine process every part? A configuration may handle a defined family of parts, but size, geometry, handling and finish changes can require different fixtures or equipment.

Does higher pressure always produce a better finish? No. Pressure is one variable alongside abrasive, distance, angle and exposure time. Excessive intensity can damage sensitive areas.

What determines total cost? Compare the proposed configuration, utilities, consumables, handling and maintenance against the agreed process requirements.
